Kinds of Cutters
The cutter is a very simple tool: it consists of a handle which is also the support whose length can be controled pushing a button on the same handle into both directions, up and down. This allows you to regulate the length of the carving knife. The main idea is that the position of the knife lets you work without thinking it will be torn by your own movements. The tip of the knife has a triangular shape. The whole length of it has centimeter marks so as you can cut the knife without losing the edge.
Cutters are often used for special jobs, for which is the best option, such as for cutting cork, when you shape many kinds of boardings (the thinner ones) or even the sheets of the frame of a door. With this tool you can cut varying the position and the carving knife will not move from where you adjusted it. It is not used just for wood working, and this may be the exception where the carpenters took ideas which were not born from their jobs, as it is mainly used for paper works such as printing.
A good cutter must prevent hand fatigue. As for security, the tool must have a large double security system, safety lock and fixed end. The types of cutters include the ones used for cutting fabrics -with a really very accurate cut, 8 overlapping approx.
The cutter should be easy to handle, and to cut in any direction forward, backward, straight, curve. We recommend you find out whether the cutter is universal tool for left and righthanded.
