Wood Working Equipment

» Files, rasps and sweet limes

The main use of these tools is to take out the shaving of the wood. The rasp is differentiated because its teeth are bigger and it is meant to work specifically in wood. The sweet lime or the square lime is used for hard access pieces. Use right menu for more related information. rasps

Types of rasps

The grain is the abrasive material that adheres to the support of the rasps. According to its composition can distinguish three types of grain:

- Of silicon carbide. Grain is a thin, angular, crisp and not much durability. Mainly used for sanding and tenacious solid materials such as glass, cast iron, stone, marble, lacquer, ceramics, titanium, rubber, plastics, fiberglass, etc..

- Of aluminum oxide (corundum). It is a grain, round, no sharp edges, tenacious and high durability. It is suitable for sanding long chipping materials such as metal and wood. They are also suitable for sanding plaster walls.

- Zirconium corundum. It is a very uniform grain, very tograver-punchugh and very durable. Because of its high strength corundum, zirconium sand is excellent for stainless steels.

The support is the basis on which to paste the grain.

There are mainly three types of support:

- Paper. It is the most widely used medium and cheaper. Has good strength and flexibility and is used primarily in sheets of rasps to handle wood. For wet liming (limes in water) are impregnated with a waterproof substance.

- Cotton or polyester fabric. It is more durable and flexible but also more expensive. Is widely used for metal and hand sanding is essential in the bands sanders belt sanders.

- Vulcanized fiber. He has more rigidity but maximum strength. It is widely used in lime sheets for angle grinders for metals, because they reach high revs.

»Types of drill

The main function of a drill -Auger, graver, punch- is to mark the place where a hole will be made. The punch graves the exact position and the drill is used for starting the hole.

The more usual types are:

IRWIN: To drill deep and perpendicular.
drill
SPIRAL: Exclusive to work and drill in wood By the way long and fast, with little precision.

3-POINT: The guide serves as a central point of penetration.

DRUM: high precision instrument for making holes in flat bottoms.

RASPS: Getting shaped holes.

Helical with wide tip and centered.

FLAT: Drills large holes.

» Types of Brush and jack plane

The brush is a tool that has a plain base into which you may insert a knife. The edge will be placed on the base side. The main function of the brush is to extract shaving by passing it through a surface. The jack plane is a variety of brush which is in fact much larger and heavier. The surfaces will end parallel and the shaving taken out will be much more.

There are the following types or functions for brushes in woodworking:

Smooth: Smoothing the table has already happened before to devastate.

DOUBLE: To brush in the opposite direction to the fibers of the wood. Blade also carries a steel sheet that breaks the chip.

Jointer: heavy and long brush for large areas.

Polishing: Get completely smooth surfaces. Replaceable limes.

GUILLAMO: Used to recesses and many other features to have the blade the size of the box.

Devastated: Narrow blade of 30 mm. Preparation of surfaces and edges.
